Dry Fruits to Avoid If You Have Diabetes

Dry Fruits to Avoid If You Have Diabetes

Dry Fruits: Meals have been the most challenging part of being a diabetes patient. It is not bad that blood sugar remains stable with the most minor changes that can turn everything upside down. Dried fruits, for instance, are foods where great care is required. Dried fruits are mostly healthy, but some of them might have very high amounts of natural sugars and could increase blood glucose readings. Let’s learn more about the dried fruits diabetic people are told or are forbidden to consume.

Why some dried fruits are bad for diabetics?

Almost all dried fruits contain very little water and because of it their high concentration of natural sugars like glucose and fructose is in it. Such concentration increases their glycemic load; therefore, they are prone to raise blood sugar levels very quickly as compared to fresh fruits. When uncontrolled, these sugary dried fruits could cause patients with diabetes in controlling their blood glucose trouble.

1. Dates

Rich in glucose and fructose, the date is among the most luscious dry fruits. Though high in nutrition, their sugar content is too high from a diabetic point of view to ingest regularly since a few pieces consumed cause the sugar to surge.

2. Anjeer, Dried Figs

The sweetness of dried figs is too much all by itself. They might be beneficial to general health but high glucose levels may end up putting diabetics in a lot of trouble. They should be restricted or avoided.

3. Drying Cherries

Most of the dried cherries are with added sugar during their processing. They shot up glucose levels in the body; thus, they should be taken under medical supervision.

4. Mango dried

Dried mango is one, among many sweetest dried tropical fruits, that has quite high sugar levels, leaving the diabetic to be extremely careful as to how high any spike may go on blood sugar.

5. Dried Banana

They carry a very high sugar content too; these ones contain quite high carbohydrates, and mostly diabetics are not good at it.

Note:

Before any kind of modification in food consumption, recommendations should always be sought from a health expert or nutritionist. Each individual has different nutrients and sugar-sensitive profiles.
