Easy Wavy Hair Care Routine That You Should Try

Wavy Hair Care Routine: Maintaining wavy, or curly hair care can be a bit challenging but, its not impossible. A youtuber named Hang has shared a detailed process in which how she maintains her high defined curly waves. Let’s see the steps she followed to maintain her hair in healthy manner.

In the tutorial, Hang shares her full wavy hair care routine, covering everything from washing techniques to final styling steps that help enhance and define waves.

Step 1: Washing the Hair

The routine begins with washing the hair using a personalized shampoo and conditioner from the brand Prose, which offers custom formulas based on factors like hair type, location, and individual needs.

Shampoo is applied primarily to the scalp, with any excess product being worked through to the ends. She typically shampoos only once or twice a week to help retain natural moisture and improve hair health.

Next, a generous amount of conditioner is applied and distributed evenly through wet hair. This step also serves as an opportunity to detangle using fingers or a wide-tooth comb. Brushing is avoided when the hair is dry to prevent frizz, especially common in wavy and curly textures. After applying the conditioner, she scrunches the hair to encourage wave formation and allows it to sit for a few minutes before rinsing. The conditioner is only partially rinsed to help lock in moisture.

For drying, a microfiber towel or a soft cotton T-shirt is used to gently squeeze out excess water. Traditional towels are avoided as they can cause frizz.

Step 2: Day-Two or Three Hair Maintenance

On days when the hair isn’t freshly washed, Hang demonstrates how she refreshes her waves. Typically, she puts her hair in a bun or ponytail and uses a DIY leave-in conditioner spray made from a mixture of water and her usual conditioner. This spray is applied evenly to dampen the hair, which is then scrunched to reactivate the waves. For those with oilier hair, using just water in the spray bottle is a good alternative.

Step 3: Styling Products

After dampening the hair, a styling cream is applied. A small amount is worked through the hair evenly, and scrunching continues to help form waves.

Following the cream, a curl-defining gel or jelly is applied. Although initially hesitant about using gel due to concerns about stiffness, Hang notes that modern curl gels, like the one she uses; do not harden but rather help hold waves together and reduce frizz. Four pumps of gel are typically used and distributed evenly, including at the roots.

Step 4: Diffusing

One of the most essential parts of the routine is using a diffuser. Diffusers help accentuate curls and waves while adding volume. The technique involves “cupping” sections of hair into the diffuser bowl and using low airflow with medium to high heat settings. This method helps maintain wave structure without causing frizz and allows for even drying. Hang points out that drying the hair evenly is key to achieving balanced results on both sides of the head.

Step 5: Anti-Frizz Serum

The final step in the routine involves applying an anti-frizz serum. The product is lightly worked through the hair to tame any remaining frizz and add shine.
