Fruits With High Sugar: What to Avoid for Healthy Eating

Fruits are a healthy food. Even though eating fruits every day is very good for health, fruits with high sugar content are not good for health. Because excessive consumption of fruits with high sugar content can lead to increased blood sugar levels.


Sugar feeds harmful bacteria in the mouth. This causes gum problems. Since fruits contain natural sugar, they can also cause tooth decay when consumed in excess.

 


Some fruits contain large amounts of sugar such as glucose, fructose, and sucrose. This can lead to obesity, according to a study published in Nutrient Journals. Here are some fruits that are high in sugar.

 

Grapes

Grapes are rich in vitamins C, K, and antioxidants. They are good for the heart, skin, and immune system. But they contain 16.1 grams of sugar per 100 grams. So, do not eat too much.

 

Mango

Containing vitamins A, C, E, and B6, mango helps in improving immunity and skin and eye health. One hundred grams of ripe mango contains 14 to 15 grams of sugar.

 

Sapota

Sapota is another fruit that is high in sugar. It is rich in potassium, iron, vitamin A, and fiber, which helps in digestion and increases energy. One hundred grams of this fruit contains 13 to 14 grams of sugar. So, try not to overeat.

 

Lychee

Lychee is one of the fruit that is high in sugar. One hundred grams of lychee contains 15.2 grams of sugar. It contains vitamin C, copper, and polyphenols.

 

Banana

Pineapple, one of the fruits that is high in sugar, contains 10 to 12 grams of sugar per 100 grams. However, it contains vitamin C, bromelain, and manganese.
