Ganesh Chaturthi 2025: Ganesh Chaturathi is an all-India festival dedicated to the god Ganesh, celebrated with great devotion and enthusiasm. The puja is performed for the bringing of the deity home, as well securing blessings from him, and removing obstacles. Here’s a simple way to conduct a step-by-step puja process for Ganesh Chaturthi at home.
1. Purification as well as Cleansing
The first step is to start cleaning the house and other puja-related areas and later on decorate with flowers, rangoli, and a small mandap (altar). Place a wooden stool and cover with red or yellow cloth and install there an idol of Lord Ganesh on an altar.
2. Installation of the Idol or Prana Pratishtha
Bring home the idol around joyfully and say, ‘Devotion Attended’. Place the idol then on well-decorated pedestal and sprinkle holy waters on it. Bring the prayers to invoke Lord Ganesha, light the diya (lamp) and incense sticks.
3. Sankalp
Make a sankalpa: put your hands together and declare an intent to perform the puja devotedly and ask of Ganesha for happiness, prosperity, and removal from obstacles with a pure heart.
4. Invocation and Offerings
Chant Ganesha mantras such as ‘Om Gan Ganapataye Namah.’ Next, you can offer flowers, durva, sandalwood paste, kumkum, and turmeric, and keep on the alter the modaks, laddus, or sweets that are considered as Lord Ganesha’s best treats.
5. Prayer and Songs
The most common form of worship among Hindus, a “camphor-lit” lamp will be waved in circular motions before an idol. Have sung devotional songs and bhajans to create a spiritual atmosphere. This is usually the most joyous part of the ritual.
6. Distribution of prasadam
It thus becomes the instrument through which family members enjoy divine blessing after the aarti.
7. Daily Puja Till the Visarjan
Repeat aarti and offerings during each of these days until Visarjan-the culmination of this elaborate puja ritual-, which is performed at this point. During Visarjan, followers utter “Ganpati Bappa Morya”, which means that the next year, the Lord will grace them with blessings.
