AI Weather Summaries: Google is currently experimenting with a new AI-powered feature. It gives users short weather summaries in its mobile Search app. This feature uses generative artificial intelligence to provide simple, text-based weather information when users search for city-specific forecasts on their mobile devices.
According to reports, this new feature appears in between the usual hourly and 10-day forecasts on the Google app for Android and iOS. It aims to give users a quick overview of the current weather, including important details such as wind speed, chances of rain or thunderstorms, air pressure patterns, and temperature changes.
Right now, this AI feature is in the testing phase and is only visible to a limited number of users. Some users in the United States have seen it when searching for terms like “weather Los Angeles” or “weather San Diego.” However, other cities don’t show the same summaries, which suggests that Google is testing the feature on a small scale.
In addition to the text summary, a small icon is provided that links to external weather sources for more detailed information. Google also includes a message saying “Generative AI is experimental,” to remind users that the tool is still in development.
Currently, the summaries are only available in the Google mobile app and on mobile browsers. Desktop users and those not signed in to their Google accounts can’t see them. Google has not yet announced when or if it plans to release this feature for everyone. This test is part of Google’s larger plan to bring AI tools into more of its services, helping users get clear and quick information in a more accessible way.
As AI continues to develop, features like this could make searching for everyday information more convenient and helpful.
