Heart disease in children are becoming more common. Many people do not know the exact reasons. In today’s world, even young hearts are getting weaker. Parents must take extra care to protect their children.

Heart disease in children:

Heart disease can affect anyone. It is no longer a problem seen only in older people. Now even children are at risk. Serious heart conditions stop children from growing and living a healthy life. It is better to know the causes that can help to prevent these issues.


Some children are born with heart problems. These may include holes in the heart or an improper heart structure. Such children often face difficulty in breathing, poor weight gain and extreme tiredness. If there is a family history of heart disease, the risk becomes higher. These conditions are hard to stop before birth but after birth, proper care is possible.

Children’s diet plays a big role in heart health. Junk food is easily available and many kids love eating it. Regular intake of junk food leads to obesity. Extra weight puts pressure on the heart. It also causes high blood pressure and cholesterol. These are strong risk factors for heart disease. Avoid junk food and make sure your child stays at a healthy weight.

Some viruses affect heart muscles. These can lead to heart problems. Protect children from infection-prone areas. A clean home environment is important. Avoid sending children to crowded or unhygienic places.

Secondhand smoke is harmful. Smoking near children is dangerous. They breathe in the smoke without knowing it. This weakens their lungs and heart. Children’s bodies cannot handle such exposure.It is advisable to keep them away from smoke and polluted air.
If the mother has high blood pressure or diabetes during pregnancy, it can affect the unborn baby. After birth, such babies may have heart issues. Regular check-ups during and after pregnancy are important.

To protect your child’s heart, it is good to schedule regular health check-ups. Give them healthy food. Encourage daily walks or light physical activity. If they struggle to breathe or get tired quickly then consult a doctor. Keep them away from pollution and smoke.
