In today’s fast-paced life, hair fall has become a very common issue for both men and women. Pollution, stress, and poor eating habits are some of the main reasons behind it. Many people think only chemical-based shampoos or environmental pollution are responsible for hair fall, but that’s not entirely true. According to experts, some of the foods we eat every day can also increase hair fall. Let’s look at five such foods that can damage your hair health.

Foods That Increase Hair Fall:

1. Sugary Foods

Too much sugar doesn’t just harm your body weight; it can also affect your hair. Eating a lot of sweets raises insulin levels in the body, which increases a hormone called androgen. High androgen levels weaken hair roots and lead to hair fall. So, it’s better to reduce sugary foods and desserts.


2. Junk Food

Fast foods like burgers, fries, and chips contain a lot of sugar, unhealthy fats, and salt. These reduce blood flow to the scalp and lead to a lack of nutrition. Over time, hair becomes weak, thin, and starts falling out.

3. Salty Foods

Eating too much salt or spicy food makes the hair dry and rough. Excess salt also removes natural moisture from the hair and scalp, leading to dandruff and split ends. Instead, choose foods rich in vitamins and protein, like fish, eggs, and leafy vegetables.

4. Alcohol

Drinking alcohol can dehydrate the body. When the body loses moisture, it affects hair growth too. Dehydrated hair becomes brittle and starts breaking easily.

5. Full-Fat Dairy Products

Certain dairy foods, especially those high in fat, can increase oil production in the scalp. This excess oil clogs hair follicles and stops new hair from growing. Choosing low-fat milk and curd is a better option for healthy hair.

To reduce hair fall, drink plenty of water, eat balanced meals, and include iron- and vitamin-rich foods in your diet.
