In the year 2023, it increased to 82.4 million. Significant numbers are increasing in the metro cities. Right now, this is increasing in the rural areas too. According to the reports, around 70% of dating app users are from outside metro cities.


Among the popular apps like Tinder, Bumble, and Truly Madly, Tinder has the highest monthly active users in India. Most of the users who started using these dating apps were from the lockdown period; this addiction towards getting a partner increased after people faced lonely times during the lockdown period.

Why are people addicted to Dating apps?
According to the survey conducted by the psychologists, it is clear that most people are often dissatisfied by the rejections faced in the society and few people are introverts but still have a feeling of having a good relationship. As per the research, the first point of addiction occurs when the dopamine hits or the immediate gratification that we get.


So when people swipe right and your profile gets matched with the opposite gender, there is a slight hit of dopamine. This instant hit in your brain ends up in the addiction.

How can someone get out this addiction?
Most of the experts say that this addiction is not recognized as a mental condition. But, People who have this addiction can set some boundaries such as a time limit for their phone usage and also engaging in different activities that will help them come out of that zone.
