How to Make Perfect Pooris: Soft, Puffy and Non-Oily

How to Make Perfect Pooris:
Pooris are a favorite snack for many, enjoyed by people of all ages, especially during festivals or gatherings. However, getting them just right soft, puffed, and without absorbing too much oil can be tricky. If you follow these simple tips, you can make perfect pooris every time.

How to Make Perfect Pooris:
1. Knead the Dough Firmly
Many people make the mistake of kneading the dough too soft. If the dough is too soft, the pooris will absorb more oil. Always knead the dough firm and smooth. This helps the pooris puff up nicely.

2. Add Semolina
To make the pooris crispier and less oily, add a little semolina (about 2 teaspoons) to the flour. This will not only improve the texture but also give the pooris a golden color. You can even add a pinch of sugar for better coloring.

3. Use Warm Water
Always knead the dough using warm water. This ensures that the dough mixes well and the pooris stay crispy for longer.

4. Rest the Dough
After kneading the dough, cover it with a damp cloth and let it rest for 15-20 minutes. This resting period allows the dough to relax, which makes the pooris puff up when fried.

5. Make Medium-Sized Pooris
When rolling out the dough, avoid making the pooris too thin or too thick. Very thin pooris soak up more oil, while thick ones may remain raw inside. Aim for medium thickness.

6. Heat Oil Properly
Always fry pooris in oil that is medium-hot, not cold or smoking hot. Cold oil will cause pooris to absorb more oil, while too hot oil will make them burn. Once the oil is at the right temperature, gently slide the pooris in.

7. Don’t Overcrowd the Pan
Fry only a few pooris at a time. If you overcrowd the pan, the pooris won’t puff up properly and will absorb more oil.

8. Remove Extra Oil
After frying, place the pooris on a tissue or absorbent kitchen napkin to remove any excess oil. This helps keep them light and crispy.

By following these simple steps, you’ll get perfect, soft, puffy pooris without the extra oil!
