Inside Sultan of Brunei’s 600 Rolls-Royces & Giant Palace

Sultan of Brunei: The Sultan of Brunei lives one of the most lavish lifestyles in the world—one that few can truly comprehend. He owns Istana Nurul Iman, the world’s largest residential palace. Spanning an astounding 2.1 million square feet, the palace features 1,788 rooms and 257 bathrooms. It includes five swimming pools, 44 marble staircases, and 564 chandeliers that shine with 51,000 light bulbs. The Sultan spares no expense on luxury, decorating the palace interior with rich detailing and 22-karat gold.

He also maintains one of the world’s most extravagant car collections. His garage houses 380 Bentleys, 450 Ferraris, and 600 Rolls-Royces, with many of them custom-built for him. In fact, he commissioned Bentley to create the world’s first luxury SUV, years before such vehicles became mainstream.

Lavish Spending:

The Sultan of Brunei spares no expense when it comes to celebrating or maintaining his opulent lifestyle. For his 50th birthday, he hosted an extravagant celebration that stunned the world. He invited 3,000 guests and flew in pop icon Michael Jackson for a private concert that cost $17 million. The one-night celebration, which also featured a polo match with King Charles, totaled an astonishing $27 million.

The Sultan also applies the same lavishness to his grooming. He routinely flies his barber from London to Brunei on a private jet, spending $20,000 just for a haircut. His commitment to luxury extends to his travel accommodations as well. He owns a custom Boeing 747, outfitted like a flying palace. The aircraft features crystal chandeliers, gold-plated furniture, solid gold washbasins, and a private bedroom suite, offering unparalleled comfort and elegance at 30,000 feet.

Unusual Purchases-Lavish Lifestyle:
A private zoo is among his most peculiar acquisitions. In addition to hosting over thirty Bengal tigers, the zoo features birds that have been trained to ride bicycles and play basketball.

Source of Wealth:
This immense riches comes from Brunei’s vast oil reserves. In the 1980s, the Sultan became the richest man in the world, with a current net worth of about $30 billion. His lifestyle continues to demonstrate the enormous wealth that comes with oil wealth.
