Janmashtami in the Year 2025: Janmashtami is an occasion on which the birth of Lord Krishna, the eighth incarnation of Lord Vishnu, is celebrated, and therefore, it is regarded as a great festival that is revered across India. It decked temples with garlands and hung them in homes. Bhajans resound in the air, and devotees render them on fasting until midnight to count time with the divine moment of the arrival of Krishna.

Nishita Kaal Puja time: 11:58 PM to 12:42 AM on August 17
Parana (the breaking of fast): 6:05 AM Onwards, August 18
Dahi Handi Celebration: Afternoon of August 18. Note thus that the timings as per the Panchang may differ in various locations; hence devotees are advised to check local muhurat prior to performing the rituals.
Purification & Setup-the house and puja area are first cleaned. The altar is decorated with flowers and rangoli with an idol or picture of Baby Krishna placed on it.
Kalash Sthapana-pot or kalash that is copper/brass filled with water, mango leaves & coconut should be placed.
Invocation-a diya & incense sticks to be lit whilst chanting mantras like “Om Namo Bhagavate Vasudevaya.”
Offerings-fruits, butter, milk, curd, sweets like makhan-mishri and tulsi leaves offered to Krishna.
Midnight Celebrations: Nishita Kaal is the time for the abhishek (ritual bathing) of Krishna; the Idol is bathed with milk, honey, ghee, curd, and water, followed by Bhajans and Aarti.
Nirjala-eliminated, however, the midnight feast was especially affected by drinking water and eating.
Phalahar: to consume fruits, milk, or have a light sattvic food.
Breaking Fast: The next day after offering food to Lord Krishna and performing aarti.
Avoid onions, garlic, and grains, along with processed food.
