Mango Season Never Ends: Preserve The King Of Fruits For 12 Months

Mangoes, lovely fruit replete with fragrant nectar and delicious natural sugar, are seasonal fruit that will make any dish or dessert a celebratory feast. After July or August, though, when mangoes become scarce, it can be depressing to think about how many days are left in this year that you will be without mangoes.


 

Luckily, there are ways to keep mango flavor at your fingertips throughout the year, with just the right techniques. These three fun and different methods for preserving mango will let you have mango flavor for shakes, ice creams, or other cookery all year-round.


 

1. Creamy Mango Pulp in Clean Glass Jars

One of the most flexible ways to preserve mangoes is by processing them into a smooth pulp, ready for use. Choose ripe mangoes with give and smell nice with a sweet fragrance, then peel the skin off. Carefully squeeze and remove out the seed, and scoop out the juicy flesh.

 

Blend the pulp in a mixer until smooth and creamy. Thin the pulp with a small amount of water, if you’re going to blend with milk and juice to make mango shakes and smoothies.

 

After blending, place the pulp into clean, sterilized glass jars or bottles with matching lids to seal efficiently against leaks, bacteria, viruses, molds, anything that may spoil or diminish the freshness. When properly sealed, store jars in the refrigerator; pulp can keep for months or longer in there, ready to add a pop of mango flavor to whatever you brought mango flavor to.

 

2. Frozen Mango Chunks for Immediate Use

Blend the pulp in the mixer until smooth and creamy. Thin the pulp with a little water if blending with milk and juice for the making of mango shakes and smoothies.

 

After blending, pour the pulp into clean glass jars or bottles having lids that allow tight sealing from leaking, bacteria, viruses, molds, or anything that may render spoilage or freshness. Once sealed tightly, store the jars in a refrigerator; the pulp, if stored, may last for even months, ready to add a dash of mango flavor to whatever has already been enhanced with mango flavor.

 

3. Mango Ice Cubes for Convenient Portions

Freezing battered chunks is fit for an eater with chunky textures. Start by peeling the mango, deboning, and cutting it into small bite-size chunks. Place the pieces on a plate/tray and dust powdered sugar over them to sweeten and stop them from sticking. Then place the tray in the freezer for about 3 hours, until the pieces are firm.

 

Once they’re solid, transfer the mango chunks to a zip-lock bag or airtight container for storing. These frozen pieces are great to throw into any smoothie, baking recipes, or just eat as snacks right away.
