R Madhavan Reveals Ayurvedic Rituals For Healthy Life

R Madhavan Ayurvedic Rituals: At 55, R. Madhavan remains the golden example of graceful aging, and attributed his youthful glow and vitality to a disciplined Ayurveda-inspired routine. He openly rubbishes the very thought of cosmetic improvements, preferring to turn to simple, traditional ways of doing such things.


Ayurvedic Grooming and Sun Therapy
For more than two decades, every Sunday of Madhavan indulged in a full-body massage using warm sesame oil (nalla ennai) being a special treat on the scalp. Use of coconut oil for the other days is regarded as a way to keep strong and nourish hair and skin that avoided chemical serums or fillers.

Sun exposure in the early morning time, even while playing golf, has been a natural way to maintain skin elasticity and wrinkle-less skin, which the actor claimed: “the sun suits me” as part of his wellness regimen.

Diet & Mindful Eating
A rigorous vegetarian by faith, Madhavan has stuck to a homemade plant-based diet primarily consisting of dal (pulses), seasonal vegetables, and rice cooked fresh daily by his personal chef even when he is on a shoot. Processed foods are a complete no-no; his grandparents ate rice three times every day, and they lived into their 90s.

He swears by mindful eating: “drink your food and chew your water”-chewing each bite 45-60 times until it turns nearly liquid, then sipping slowly. He eats by 6:45 PM, shun raw food after 3 PM, and has his overnight intermittent fasting.


Lifestyle Habits & Sleep Hygiene
Madhavan walks early in the morning, not watching screens for 90 minutes before sleep, thus connected to the wholesome, very deep sleep. Restful nights are the greatest source of mental clarity, mood control, and long life.

He also maintained a kitchen garden within the home whereby fresh produce were taken and a mindful diet became a preference by him.
