Rameswaram and Ramanathaswamy Temple are holy places. After the inauguration of Pamban Bridge, Rameswaram New Route to Religious Sites, this pilgrimage site is now connected to Ayodhya and Varanasi by rail. Another project of the Modi government to connect pilgrimage sites has been completed today. Rameswaram, popularly known as Pamban Island, is one of the four Dhams of Hinduism. The Ramanathaswamy Temple located here is the temple with the longest pillared corridor (1,220 meters) in the world. This temple is associated with both Lord Rama and Lord Shiva. It is believed that after killing Ravana, Lord Rama worshiped Lord Shiva here to get rid of the sin of brahmahatya.
Ram Setu: Mythological faith linked to geological evidence
Ram Setu, or Adams Bridge, is an old land route connecting India and Sri Lanka. This area is very important from a religious and cultural point of view. The distance from Dhanushkodi to Thalaimannar is only 19 kilometers. Geological evidence also suggests Ram Setu to have been an ancient land link between India and Sri Lanka.
