Real Egg vs Fake Egg: In India in recent times, fake eggs have generally been popping up, and this has made everyone wonder about how to differentiate real ones from the artificial. Fake eggs, mostly made up of chemicals such as calcium carbonate, resin, and gelatin, could be extremely hazardous to health when consumed often. So, here are some simple tricks for anyone to do at home so that they can find out how to distinguish real from fake eggs easily.


1. The Visual Test

First of all- check it through visual observations.

The real eggshells are somewhat sinister and porous.
The false eggs may be overly smooth and shiny or even not colored inappropriately.


When you shake the fake eggs, you may feel a sloshy sound, but a real egg feels firm.

2. The Water Float Test

Fill a bowl with water and drop the egg completely.

A real egg sinks into and lays flat at the bottom because of its natural density.

Float or stand tilted off the ground of lighter synthetic materials for fake eggs.

3. The Cooking Check

Whenever you break the egg onto the hot plate or pan, real eggs are thick and hold their spherical and firm shapes; whites spread a little, whereas they remain smooth enough.

Fake eggs have watery whites and rubbery yolks which do not mix with the stirring; they can smell like plastic when heated.

4. The Smell Test

Real eggs may emit a rotten-egg odour, characteristic of sulphur, when old and gone bad; fake ones are mostly odourless-may smell chemical or plastic instead.

5. Buy from Genuine Sources Only

For safety, eggs should be bought from trusted vendors that are local (preferably) or well-branded. Don’t eat it if it feels wrong-texture, smell, taste- whatever.

These are but a few and easy tests to ascertain eggs as fresh, real, and healthy, whenever they are bought. Some occasions do leave one thinking natural has much to hide.
