Shocking Side Effects of Excess Beetroot Juice Consumption

Excess Beetroot Juice Consumption:

Beetroot juice is considered one of the healthiest drinks. It is rich in nutrients and gives many health benefits. People drink it to increase hemoglobin levels, improve heart health, and boost energy. It also helps in making the skin glow and improves digestion. But drinking beetroot juice in excess can cause some serious health problems. Let’s see what can happen if you drink too much beetroot juice.

Excess Beetroot Juice Consumption:

1. Increases Acidity and Digestion Issues
Beetroot juice contains natural acids. Drinking too much of it can cause acidity, bloating, and gas. Some people may also experience diarrhea after consuming large amounts.

2. Hair Fall Due to Zinc Absorption Issues
Beetroot is high in oxalates. These compounds can stop the body from absorbing zinc properly. Lack of zinc may lead to hair fall. So, if you are facing hair loss, check how much beetroot juice you are drinking.

3. Drop in Blood Pressure
Beetroot juice is known to lower blood pressure. For people with high BP, this is good. But if your BP is already low, drinking too much beetroot juice can make it drop further, leading to dizziness or fainting.

4. Risk for Diabetics
Beetroot has natural sugars. When you make juice, most of the fiber is removed. Drinking fiberless beetroot juice in excess can increase blood sugar levels. Diabetic patients should be very careful.

5. Kidney Stones
Beetroot juice is rich in oxalates. These can combine with calcium in the body and form crystals. Over time, these crystals may turn into kidney stones.

6. Cancer Risk
Beetroot contains nitrates. When you drink too much, these nitrates can turn into harmful compounds called nitrosamines in the stomach. These are linked to an increased risk of cancer according to some studies.

Beetroot juice is healthy when taken in the right quantity. One small glass a day is enough for most people. Do not overdrink it thinking it is completely safe. If you have any health condition, talk to your doctor before including beetroot juice in your daily diet
