Simple Lifestyle Changes That Will Keep Alzheimer’s Away

Keep Alzheimer’s Away: An Alzheimer disease is an irreversible neurodegenerative disorder characterized by a progressive decline in memory, reasoning, and behavioral capacity. Although there is no certain way of preventing it, studies indicate that several daily habits can reduce the potential risk factors to these patients tremendously. Here are a few lifestyle adjustments to promote brain health that may help delay the onset of Alzheimer’s.


1. Stay Mentally Active

Just like physical activity strengthens the body, mental activity strengthens the brain. Reading books, solving puzzles, learning a new language, and playing musical instruments stimulate the brain and slow cognitive decline.

2. Prioritize Physical Exercise

4. Sleep Well

Long-standing sleep deprivation raises Alzheimer’s risk, allowing harmful proteins to accumulate in the brain. Adults should, therefore, work to get from 7 to 9 hours of uninterrupted sleep nightly. Establishing a calming routine before bed and keeping away from screens before sleep can also help.

Control diabetes, hypertension, and cholesterol levels as these, if not controlled well, could end up causing damage to the blood vessels, consequently impairing brain functions.
