Sleep Deprived? Sleep Better with These Simple Diet Changes

Sleep deprivation is a common problem that many people experience today. Sleep deprivation can occur due to many reasons. Sometimes, some changes in your diet can solve your sleep deprivation. In such a way, to get good sleep, you can change your diet. Let’s see what changes you can make.

1. Add foods rich in magnesium

Magnesium helps relax muscles and calm the nervous system. Therefore, eating foods rich in magnesium in your diet will help you get good sleep. Adding foods like spinach, almonds, pumpkin seeds, avocado, and bananas to your diet will help increase magnesium levels and help you get good sleep.

2. Eat foods rich in tryptophan

Tryptophan is an amino acid. It helps in the production of serotonin. It is converted into melatonin, the sleep hormone. For this, include foods like oats, eggs, dairy products, and soy in your diet.

3. Include carbohydrates in dinner

Eating foods containing carbohydrates like sweet potatoes, brown rice, and whole grains at night will help you get a good night’s sleep.

4. Reduce caffeine after noon

Reduce caffeine consumption after noon. This is because caffeine stays in your body for several hours and can delay melatonin production. This can cause sleep deprivation.

5. Limit sugar and processed foods

Excessive consumption of high-sugar foods and processed foods can interfere with melatonin production. So limit their consumption.

6. Eat a light dinner

Eating a heavy or fatty meal right before bed can cause indigestion and disrupt sleep. So eat a light dinner.

7. Stay hydrated

Dehydration can affect the quality of your sleep, but drinking too much right before bed can lead to waking up to use the bathroom. So make sure you stay well hydrated during the day and limit your water intake about an hour before bed.

8. Limit your alcohol intake

Excessive alcohol consumption can lead to poor sleep. So avoid drinking alcohol.
