Telangana Tops: Once upon a time, if we wanted something, we used to go to the weekly market or the nearest market. Whether it was essential goods, clothes, or other items, we used to go and see for ourselves and buy them . But now the situation has completely changed. Everything is online. Today, from a small razor to large electronic items, we buy everything on e-commerce websites. Without even setting foot outside.. the items we ordered are delivered to our doorstep. The fact that thousands of types of products, colors, and sizes are available at our fingertips, and the opportunity to compare and choose them is what has made online shopping so popular. This convenience not only saves time, but also provides the opportunity to discover many new products.


Telangana Tops in Online Shopping

These e-commerce websites are also attracting consumers with offers like Big Sale, Online Carnival, Great India Sale. Buying everything from essentials to electronics online has become common today. In this context, a survey conducted by the Central Statistics Office revealed interesting facts. While an average of 24.5 percent of households across the country buy online, it is 35.1 percent in Telangana and 23.4 percent in Andhra Pradesh. While Telangana is at the top among the southern states, Andhra Pradesh is at the bottom. Chandigarh, Goa, and Dadra and Nagar Haveli are at the top with more than 50 percent of households.

 


Lagging Bihar (26.6% households) is ahead of the big northern states of Uttar Pradesh (18.9%), Madhya Pradesh (17.9%), and Gujarat (16.4%). The northeastern states of Manipur (46.3%), Sikkim (40%), and Mizoram (39.1%) are also better than the big states. Bihar (26.6%) is ahead of Andhra Pradesh (23.4%). While 24.8% of households in rural Bihar and 40.1% in urban areas buy online, in AP it is 16.6% in rural areas and 35% in urban areas. Online shopping in rural areas of Telangana is at par with the national average (16%). When it comes to urban areas, Telangana (56.6%) is fourth after Chandigarh, Assam, and Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

 

Items purchased:

Food items account for 7.6% of online purchases nationwide, while non-food items account for 53.3%. Rural areas purchase more non-food items (75.7%), while urban areas purchase 37.6% of non-food products.
