Harmful Items in Bathroom: The house contains various items that are used daily, and they do not concern themselves with whether they are being used correctly. Not only these, there are also many unnecessary items that are often neglected. Some of these forgotten items can pose health risks, particularly in the bathroom, where bacteria and germs thrive. Certain unnecessary objects found in the bathroom can become highly toxic, releasing harmful chemicals into the air. These chemicals can spread throughout the house, leading to various health problems.
Dr. Sethi has identified three specific types of harmful items that should be removed from the bathroom immediately. If these items are left unchecked, they can be detrimental to your health. Let’s explore what these three items are and understand their potential dangers.
It is very easy to overlook what happens to a toothbrush and simply throw it away. However, it is one of the toxic items in the bathroom, as it releases harmful chemicals into the air. When asked how long they typically use a toothbrush, many people reply six months, seven months, or even a year, believing that as long as the brush is not damaged, it can be used indefinitely. However, multiple studies suggest that a toothbrush should be replaced every three months. Dr. Sethi explained that after three months, the cleaning effectiveness of a toothbrush decreases by 30 percent, meaning it becomes much less effective. Despite this, many people continue to use their toothbrushes beyond this timeframe, which can lead to bacteria growth. Therefore, it is advisable to replace your toothbrush every three months for better oral hygiene.
Razor blades used for shaving also pose a health risk. If not used properly, this can become a threat. However, razor blades sometimes lose their sharpness after shaving. Even so, many people continue to use them. But Dr. Sethi says that using a razor that has become dull like this can cause many problems. Especially, there is a possibility of skin irritation. It is better to throw them away after using them 5 times. If you don’t feel any harm by then, you should definitely throw them away after using them a couple more times. Otherwise, the skin will be damaged. Along with this, there is a risk of infections. Therefore, if you have been using the same razor blade for a long time, it is better to throw it away immediately.
Many people use mouthwashes to get rid of bad breath and to refresh their breath. These have antimicrobial properties. That is, they are said to kill bacteria in the mouth. However, Dr. Sethi explained that this also kills good bacteria. Due to this, the microbiome in the stomach decreases. The good bacteria needed for digestion of food are removed. This leads to many problems. Along with indigestion, problems like constipation and bloating can arise. Therefore, mouthwashes should not be used even by mistake. Dr. Sethi suggests that it is better to avoid them immediately.
