Double depression occurs when a person is dealing with two major types of depressive disorders at once. This happens when a person is coping with Persistent Depressive Disorder (PDD) for a long time and then suddenly starts experiencing Major Depressive Disorder (MDD).
This is not a very common case, but there are a significant number of people who go through double depression for various factors. This also happens when people around the victim don’t understand the seriousness or dismiss the victim’s feelings. These negative responses can make a person much more prone to double depression.

1. Persistent Sadness: If you often feel sad, low, or hopeless for a long time, this is more than just a bad day.
2. Loss of Interest: You find yourself in a situation where you don’t enjoy doing things you used to do. You lose interest in your favorite hobbies, movies, or music.
3. Changes in Sleep: Your sleep cycle is completely changed. You either sleep for more than 10 hours and still wake up with weakness and restlessness. Or you struggle to sleep for at least 4 hours a day.
4. Concentration: You find yourself in a tough spot where you see yourself struggling to focus on even little things. Your attention span is very low.
5. Social Life: You isolate yourself from social life and find it better when you are alone. This builds from insecurities initially.
6. Negative thinking: You find yourself worthless and hopeless. It would be hard for you to accept and like yourself for who you are.
Depression is not a simple thing, but it is a very complex situation that takes a toll on the victim. Considering lifestyle changes and other options is up to your choice. But it is important to consider a therapist for better and personalized care to heal yourself.
