Eating good meals gives your body fuel. Digestion starts after you have eaten. Doing those things that can hurt digestion will limit nutrient absorption. Bad post meal habits can lead to bloating, gas or discomfort. Good post meal habits can improve gut health.
Post meal activities, have to do with timing. Wait to drink tea one hour after you have a meal. Eat, then wait 30 minutes to sip water, eat fruits two hours after meal or wait at least one hour for exercise.
Tea and coffee are bad for digestion. Tannins in tea can limit iron absorption. Both tea and coffee can increase acidity and lead to gas and bloating. Wait at least one hour after you eat before drinking tea or coffee. If you crave tea, consider drinking a herbal tea.
Water is important but not immediately after you eat. Excessive water or any drink will dilute the stomach acid. Too much fluid slows digestion as the stomach will be heavy from excessive liquid, wait at least thirty minutes after meals to sip water.
