Malayalam OTT: Traditionally, difficult circumstances and recovery have been subjects in Malayalam films, characterized by an authenticity that few cinema-bodied mediums offer. From drinking and smoking to more abstract behavioral dependencies, Malayalam filmmakers have sought to show how addiction can form- and destroy- lives, families, and identity. These works of cinematic like to explore the episodes of addiction but also the challenging yet euphoric or liberating transition of recovery and redemption.

The 2016 Comedy drama film starring Prithviraj and Anoop Menon is based on the chaotic life of two alcoholics and the way how they are taken to a de-addiction center.

The movie Nee-na explores the lives of two women who deal with two different addictions- one pertaining to alcoholism, and the other- Binge eating.
