Prime Video Introduces Ads: In order to “continue investing in compelling content,” Amazon Prime Video said that it will begin introducing “limited” adverts to its films and TV series on June 17, 2025. The digital streaming service announced that while the price of Prime memberships will not change, subscribers would have access to ad-free content with the new “ad-free add-on.”
“Prime Video movies and TV shows will include limited advertisements starting 17 June 2025,” the over-the-top platform stated in a statement released on Tuesday, May 13.
This will enable us to keep spending money on engaging content and to raise that investment over time. Compared to TV channels and other streaming services, we want to have noticeably fewer advertisements,” stated Amazon Prime.
Impact on Existing Users:
According to Amazon, customers don’t need to do anything, and the price of Prime membership won’t go up. However, it stated that beginning on June 17, 2025, subscribers will be able to sign up for a new ad-free add-on option, which would cost an extra ₹129 per month.
“Starting on June 17, 2025, you can sign up for a new ad-free add-on option that costs an extra ₹ 999- 699 per year/₹129 per month.” “Your Prime membership won’t undergo any additional modifications. Numerous shopping, savings, and entertainment perks will still be available to Prime members,” it continued.
