Black Warrant : Vikramaditya Motwane drama series is now streaming on Netflix. Black Warrant is adapted from the infamous book Black Warrant: Confessions of a Tihar Jailer that explores the harsh realities of Tihar Jail through the lens of an upright jailer combating corruption.
Vikramaditya Motwane directorial series is based on the book Black Warrant: Confessions of a Tihar Jailer and is now streaming with seven gripping episodes. Black Warrant premiered on Netflix on January 10, 2025. The series consists of seven episodes directed by seven filmmakers, each depicting a unique aspect of life within one of India’s most infamous prisons.

Netflix’s presented drama docu series plot revolves around the journey of a straightforward jailer who takes up a role of in Tihar Jail, India’s most unforgiving jail to combat the corruption with in the system .

Black Warrant: Confessions of a Tihar Jailer is a non-fiction book written by journalist Sunetra Choudhury and the former superintendent of Tihar Jail, Sunil Gupta. It traces some of the infamous criminals who served their time in the jail and were hanged. The book shares controversial confessions of procedural lapses and corruption leading to a travesty of justice. It provides a step forward in a quest to understand the Indian prison system and provides fodder for further research into its corruption and injustices.

The drama series stars Zahan Kapoor, Rahul Bhat, Paramvir Singh Cheema, Tota Roy Chowdhury, Rajshri Deshpande, Joy Sengupta, Priya Chauhan, Rajendra Gupta  and also features the most celebrated Bollywood filmmaker Anurag Kashyap in a creative capacity.

The series is a collaborative made and presented by the critically acclaimed Hindi filmmaker Vikramaditya Motwane and Satyanshu Singh, with multiple directors contributing to its creation, including Rohin Raveendran Nair, Ambiecka Pandit, and Arkesh Ajay. It is available stream on giant ott platform Netflix in multiple languages like in Hindi, Tamil, English, and Telugu.
