The NBA and Skechers have launched Hoop Nation Season 2, a lyrical docuseries that highlights real-life basketball stories from different parts of India. The second season features four episodes and is now streaming on the NBA India YouTube channel.
Skechers returns as the presenting partner. Players featured in the show wear Skechers Basketball shoes, known for their “Comfort that Performs”.
The new season follows the journeys of:
Ishrat Akhter, a wheelchair basketball player from Baramulla, Kashmir
Deepak P. Babu, a basketball mentor and content creator from Alappuzha, Kerala
The Lao Family, a father-daughter duo from Kolkata’s Indo-Chinese community
Farooque Shaikh, a coach and mentor from Mumbai’s Nagpada area
Each story reflects strength, passion, and the power of basketball to transform lives.
Season 2 blends hip-hop with storytelling. Each episode features local rap artists:
Straight Outta Srinagar (SOS) from Kashmir
ThirumaLi from Kerala
EPR Iyer from Kolkata
QK from Mumbai
These artists use original lyrics and beats to bring players’ stories to life, making the series bold and emotional.
Rajah Chaudhry, NBA India Head, said the series showcases how basketball connects communities. He added, “We want to engage fans through real stories and grow the sport across India.”
Rahul Vira, CEO of Skechers South Asia, shared the same vision. “Through our NBA partnership, we support India’s basketball future. Our focus is to boost local talent and bring top-quality gear to the courts.”

Skechers also backs the ACG Jr. NBA program, which last year reached 4,000 youth across 500 schools. The brand aims to grow basketball at all levels -from grassroots to elite.
Season 2 of the docuseries is now streaming on NBA India’s official YouTube channel, following the success of its debut season that first brought grassroots basketball stories to the spotlight.
