Madharaasi OTT:
Just three weeks after its theatrical release, the film Madharaasi is all set to stream on an OTT platform. Prime Video confirmed that the psychological action thriller by AR Murugadoss will be available globally from October 1. The movie features Sivakarthikeyan in the lead role, along with Rukmini Vasanth, Vidyut Jammwal, Biju Menon, Vikranth, and Shabeer Kallarakkal.
Prime Video subscribers in India and over 200 countries can watch the film in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam, and Kannada. Sharing a video clip on Instagram, Sivakarthikeyan wrote, “Brace yourself for a mad ride with yours truly Madharaasi,” generating excitement among fans.
Madharaasi is the first collaboration between AR Murugadoss and Sivakarthikeyan. The movie is set in Tamil Nadu and follows Raghu, a car showroom employee who secretly suffers from a rare psychological disorder. This condition makes him believe that strangers are his lost family members. Things take a turn when NIA officer Premnath recruits Raghu to infiltrate a cylinder gas factory being used as a weapons storage hub by an arms syndicate. This covert mission tests Raghu’s mental strength and courage.
Raghu’s past trauma and his relationship with Malathi, a dental student and singer played by Rukmini Vasanth, add emotional depth to the story. Vidyut Jammwal plays the antagonist Virat, while Vikranth appears as Chirag.
Despite receiving praise from critics for its direction, performances, and storytelling, Madharaasi had a modest box office performance. According to reports, it earned around ₹61.86 crore in India and ₹97.69 crore worldwide, which was below expectations. This may have prompted the decision for an early digital release.
The film features cinematography by Sudeep Elamon and music by Anirudh Ravichander, adding to its technical appeal. With its OTT release approaching, fans can now enjoy the thrilling action and gripping storyline from the comfort of their homes, making Madharaasi accessible to a global audience.
