Mahavatar Narsimha OTT:
Director Ashwin Kumar’s animated film Mahavatar Narsimha is now ready for its digital release. The movie, which is inspired by ancient Hindu texts such as the Vishnu Purana, Narasimha Purana, and Shrimad Bhagavata Purana, first hit theatres on July 25, 2025.
On September 18, Netflix India announced that Mahavatar Narsimha will stream from September 19, 2025, at 12:30 PM. The post read, “The roar of this lion can topple a kingdom,” highlighting the power of Lord Narsimha.
Despite low pre-release buzz, the film shocked the box office with record collections. It tells the story of Prahlad, a young devotee of Vishnu, who defies his father Hiranyakashipu. His faith brings forth Lord Vishnu’s fierce avatar, Narsimha — half-man, half-lion — who destroys evil.
Audiences praised the film for its emotions and visuals. India Today called it “a gripping epic-animation saga” and a bold attempt to bring mythology to the screen. As the first in a ten-part series, the scale is expected to grow with each release.
Produced by Kleem Productions and Hombale Films, the movie launches the Mahavatar Cinematic Universe, which will cover all ten avatars of Vishnu. Future titles include Mahavatar Parshuram (2027), Mahavatar Raghunandan (2029), Mahavatar Dhawkadhesh (2031), Mahavatar Gokulananda (2033), and Mahavatar Kalki (2035–2037).
Director Ashwin Kumar said the Mahavatar universe aims to showcase India’s cultural and spiritual heritage on a global scale.
With its Netflix premiere, viewers who missed the theatrical run can now watch this mystical action-drama at home.
