As the last chapter of the popular science fiction series for Netflix, Stranger Things 5 has been verified, fans of the show have pondered the characters that will come back one final time for the battle. Foremost among those names is Kali Prasad—also known as Eight—last seen in Season 2.
In a recent interview with Variety, the showrunners Matt and Ross Duffer hinted that plotlines would eventually connect, therefore comforting viewers that no strand was being left hanging. For long-time fans, that instantly started conjecture as to whether or not Kali could come back, particularly since her storyline appears very unfinished after all these years.
Fanbases speculating on how Kali might fit back into the story bring many ideas to mind about her re-introduction. Using deception—just as they once would have done to Eleven and One—the government may have somehow grabbed her and forced her to utilize her illusion skills. Alternately maybe the Hawkins gang is chasing after Kali as the conflict against Vecna intensifies. She might possibly meddle with her psychic talents as Eleven struggles to rescue Max.
Other ideas go down a considerably more emotional route; Kali enters the battle only to die early, her death triggering the catalyst that shows more profound powers in Eleven powered by grief and determination. This would adhere to the theme of sacrifice and emotional fortitude seen throughout the program.
Many supporters are hoping for her comeback, yet others want she would continue as a supporting character rather than taking all the focus from the major group. So far, Kali has shown up only for one episode and has not supported the Upside. Down at once.
Still, her inclusion would help provide closure and improve tension going ahead. Kali’s presence would weave together the story of the psychic children—as either ally or adversary—and assist bring Stranger Things back to where everything began. Begun Eleven and her background.
