Squid Game Season 3: The South Korean thriller series ‘Squid Game’, which has created a fan base around the world, is set to release its final season on Netflix on June 27. However, the series’ creator, Hwang Dong-hyuk, has revealed that the series will not have a happy ending.
Hwang stated that this season, which stars Lee Jung-jae, Lee Byung-hun, Wi Ha-jun, and Park Gyu-young, will feature new games, characters, and unexpected twists. “This season will be very interesting, but it will also have a strong message,” Lee, who plays the lead role in the series, previously said.
‘Squid Game’, which was released in 2021, began as a limited series, but at the same time, it was said that it had to be made into subsequent seasons due to the unprecedented acceptance it received worldwide. “We had to make the next season because of the love from viewers around the world,” says series creator Hwang Dong-hyuk.
Hwang Dong-hyuk warned that the final season of ‘Squid Game’ will be darker and more serious. “The world has become a place with less hope. What is humanity’s last hope? I want to ask if we have the will to leave a better world for future generations,” he said.
These questions will become the main message of the series. Hwang said that after watching the three seasons, viewers should ask themselves, “How much humanity is left in me?”
The series creator also says that the third season will see Seong Gi-hun, played by Lee Jung-jae, transform from an ordinary person to a brave hero. Hwang hinted that viewers will see a big confrontation between Gi-hun (Lee Jung-jae) and Frontman (Lee Byung-hun) over their beliefs in the third season. “The ending will be unexpected. I think the audience will have different reactions. It will definitely be a topic of discussion,” the series creator added. In any case, viewers are eagerly awaiting the release of the series on Netflix.
