Stranger Things 5 Predictions: One of the most interesting theories surrounding Stranger Things 5 is that Joyce Byers might have been under the same MKUltra-esque government program as Terry Ives, Eleven’s mother. According to this theory, Joyce escaped before the experimentation was finished – and before she had Will. This might explain her erratic behavior, her much stronger intuition, and her ability to “feel” presence from Will in Season 1. It might explain why Lonnie, Will’s father, treats him differently than Jonathan does.
The theory goes that Will has always been the main focus of Vecna’s plans. Each movement from the demogorgon snatching him up in Season 1 to Vecna having a mental chase after him in Season 2 seems to be aimed at tapping into Will’s dormant abilities. Vecna starts focusing on Eleven only after she becomes involved in disrupting his scheme, deviating from his original target. That manifestation of heightened sensitivity with Will recreates itself at the end of Season 4 when he perceives Vecna.
The boldest claim? That Will made Hawkins in the Upside Down from his trauma and his psychic powers. Maybe his longing to go home created the mirror version of the town, with the diary date locked in 1983 as the stamp indicating the day Will disappeared.
The titles of the episodes in Season 5 seem to suggest a catastrophic blend between Hawkins and the Upside Down. “The Sorcerer” may signify Vecna’s ultimate spell, while “Shock Jock” seems to involve radio distress calls from survivors. “Escape From Camazotz”-possibly after some vampirish D&D-inspired dimension-and “The Bridge” may lie in store for heroes’ final path back into the real world.
If indeed predictions of this sort are correct, then Stranger Things 5 will be a haunting, emotional closing, where Hawkins, Eleven, and Will face their intertwined fates for the last time.
