Sree Vishnu and Ritu Varma starrer Swag was theatrically released on October 4, 2024 to positive review. After the decent theatrical run the film is finally set to debut on this OTT platform. 

The black comedy thriller is helmed by Hasith Goli in a non-linear style of narration and bankrolled by T. G. Vishwa Prasad under People Media Factory banner. The movie received praise for Sree Vishnu, Ritu Varma and Meera Jasmine performances, but was criticized for having a confusing multiple timelines and characters and dull screenplay. Within just few weeks of film’s theatrical release, it is set debut on Ott. It is reported that film’s box office failure led to its quick Ott release.

The Swag story was set in 1551 in the fictional Vinjamara vamsam , which follows matriarchal norms, ruled by Rukmini Devi . In contrast to the current social evil of female foeticide, during this queen’s rule, male foeticide was prevalent. Hasith Goli goes all out in his satirical approach to portray men with veils and women making the important decisions. He narrates a hypothetical story of one man, Bhavabhuti (Sree Vishnu), turning the tables and introducing a patriarchal system.

The film ensemble cast inlcudes Sree Vishnu ,Ritu Varma, Meera Jasmine, Revathi, Sunil, Daksha Nagarkar, Ravi Babu, Goparaju Ramana, Sharanya Pradeep, Getup Srinu, Rajyalakshmi, and Prudhvi Raj. The film’s soundtrack album and background score are composed by Vivek Sagar.

Recently Swag’s leading lady ,Ritu Varma made an official announcement on her social media accounts that the black comedy thriller is available to stream online from October 25, 2024 on gaint Ott platform Amazon Prime Video.
