Stephen Ending Explained: The 2025 Tamil direct-to-OTT movie Stephen is currently available for streaming on Netflix. The movie is among the first from the most recent Tamil programming that the massive streaming service has revealed. A serial killer is at the center of the psychological thriller drama Stephen. When a young man turns himself in and admits to killing nine women, the police don’t know why he came up to them in the first place.

Stephen Ending Explained:
Nine women are brutally murdered at the start of Stephen, and Gomathi Shankar’s character, the title character, turns herself in to the authorities. Stephen, a young man who is likely in his late twenties or early thirties, is subjected to a number of investigations, including meetings with psychiatrist Seema (Smruthi Venkat). Stephan remembers his horrific and violent upbringing with his parents at this point.

Stephen goes on to say that his father, a former athlete who is currently a physical therapy instructor, developed an alcohol problem and started abusing them. One such case is when Stephen bought a puppy to his home as a boy, but it turned out horribly after his father killed it because he was upset by the puppy’s cries. Additionally, according to the police files, Stephen’s father killed his mother before turning himself in. In actuality, though, Stephen killed his mother, and his father was held accountable. This serves as a test for Michael Thangadurai (Michael Thangadurai), who is investigating the matter alongside Seema, to see if Stephen is being truthful.

In the meantime, Stephen’s father was apprehended by his school for secretly filming girls in their changing rooms. Stephen’s mother becomes the breadwinner and finally starts to take charge of the household, including her husband, after being severely hurt and destroyed by the girl’s relatives. She gradually becomes a despot and physically abuses her children and husband.

When the mother finds out years later that Stephen and his father went out in their automobile due to a minor incident, she becomes enraged with them. When she learns of Stephen’s employment offer, she also destroys the appointment order, which infuriates her son, who then ruthlessly kills her by slashing her with a knife. Joyfully accepting responsibility for his wife’s passing, Stephen’s father is killed by his son in a fit of wrath. Michael and Seema are left with more mystery than they were aware of, which perplexes them.

Why did he kill nine girls?

Michael Thangadurai knows that Stephen had been living with a female in Chennai, where he was employed. He discovers that it was Krithika, his lover. Police also conclude that it is not the same girl as Mary (Harija), a devout Christian who was the sole girl saved from Stephen’s murder because she exhibited compassion and understanding just before Stephen was about to stab her.

Returning to Stephen’s flashback, we see that he told Krithika about the murder of his parents, and Krithika was clearly stunned. After their tense connection leads to Krithika’s murder, Stephen becomes even more insane and kills girls whenever he misses Krithika. In Mary’s instance, it happened when he released her after noticing love in her eyes.

What will happen to Stephen at the end?
Stephen appears in court and even acknowledges the murder accusations. He is transported to jail in a police van after receiving a sentence of double imprisonment. At this point, Krithika, Stephen’s parents, and the nine females he murdered appear to us. It becomes clear from a chat between Stephen and his parents that Stephen was the one who was insane all along. His father, who loved him without conditions, assumed responsibility for the covert video recording and said that Stephen was the one who killed his puppy.

He started targeting others once his desire to kill intensified. When his mother questioned him, Stephen viciously killed her. Additionally, he slit his father’s throat and made him accept responsibility. Additionally, Stephen tells Krithika’s ghost that he never believed her when she said she would wait for him when he turned himself in for the murder of his parents. Stephen goes on to add that anytime he missed Krithika, he killed the women and made them speak like her because he was interested in them. He goes on to say that he would be back outside due to good behavior and that the investigation and surrender were merely a show he put on to divert the attention of the police.

What did Stephen do with all the bodies?
The next time Stephen returned, he had disposed of all the remains in a forest and disclosed that they had never been located. An unknown man is seen viewing a television that flashes Stephen’s news in a post-credit sequence. As he enters the woodland, the movie ends with a full moon in the background and the card “Luna-The Night Awakens,” which suggests a sequel.
