Thug Life OTT: After 38 years, iconic director Mani Ratnam and veteran actor Kamal Haasan have come together with their long-awaited movie, Thug Life. After their cult classic Nayakan (1987), their collaboration has generated humongous hype among the masses. The promotions for the movie began on Friday with the release of its first single, Jinguchaa, to create some buzz before its release in theatres on June 5, 2025.
Marking its release in summer, Thug Life will release on June 5, 2025, for a solo Tamil release. The size of its star-cast and the power of storytelling by Mani Ratnam are generating hype.
Post-theatrical release, Thug Life would become available on Netflix, having procured its official OTT rights. Netflix had made the joyous announcement simultaneously with its launch announcement for the upcoming year of its South Indian franchise.
The very first track, Jinguchaa, which was written by the legendary A.R. Rahman, has already stolen hearts. Vaishali Samant, Shakthisree Gopalan, and Adithya RK have lent their voice to the wedding song. And to surprise us further, Sanya Malhotra gives a cameo performance and shares screen space with Silambarasan.
Besides Kamal Haasan, the movie has a good star cast in the likes of Trisha, Silambarasan, Abhirami, Ashok Selvan, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Joju George, Nasser, and Ali Fazal. With Mani Ratnam’s creative direction and Rahman’s scintillating music, Thug Life will be one treat for the eyes on the big screen.
