No Begging in AP: The Andhra Pradesh government has taken one of the major decisions for the state. It has issued a Government Order (G.O.) completely banning begging across the state. The ‘Prevention of Begging (Amendment) Act, 2025’ has now officially come into force. With this new law, begging in any form is prohibited in Andhra Pradesh.
The Governor gave his approval to the law on October 15, and the G.O. was released on October 27. On this occasion, Law Secretary Gottapu Pratibha Devi issued G.O. MS No. 58. The new Act will be implemented jointly by the Welfare and Police Departments. The government is aiming towards eliminating the begging mafia and also organized begging gangs in the state. Also, the law is going to focus on rehabilitating the poor people, not punishing them.

As per the reports, most of the people are dependent on begging for survival in India. In some states, the government is already helping the beggars by offering some jobs and giving them free rehabilitation programs, which can help them get out of begging. Similarly, the Andhra Pradesh government is planning to ban begging in the state and help them by providing some employment and support with some rehabilitation programs.
In the same way, Mizoram has also implemented the ban two months ago; right now, experts are analyzing the change in the state after the ban. Right now, Andhra Pradesh is following a similar path and is trying to implement the same law in the state. Now we have to see how effectively this new law is going to be implemented in the state.

– CP Brown, known for his contributions to the Telugu language, will now have his birth anniversary celebrated as a state festival every year on November 10. Special Chief Secretary Ajay Jain issued orders regarding this decision.
