AP Unveils Aerospace Policy 4.0 to Lead in Defence Manufacturing

Andhra Pradesh Charts Aerospace Future

Andhra Pradesh has introduced a bold Aerospace and Defence Policy 4.0 (2025–2030). Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu led the review at the Secretariat. The policy aims to make the state India’s top aerospace and defence manufacturing hub.

1 Lakh Crore Investment Target

The policy sets a clear investment target. Andhra Pradesh plans to attract between Rs50,000 crore and 1 lakh crore in the next five years. These funds will build advanced infrastructure, boost exports, and create jobs.

Technology Is Key

CM Naidu stressed the rising role of aerospace technology in national defence. He referred to India’s Operation Sindoor as an example. He noted that defence innovation also benefits civilian life.

The Chief Minister urged officials to design a future-proof policy. He called for national security to remain a guiding principle.

MSMEs Get a Major Push

Andhra Pradesh plans to support MSMEs aggressively. CM Naidu proposed a Rs100 crore yearly fund. He added logistics subsidies and quality benchmarks. He said branding and value addition must become key focus areas.

“One family, one entrepreneur,” he said, “must drive local innovation.”

Cluster-Based Growth Strategy

The policy defines key manufacturing zones:

Visakhapatnam–Srikakulam: Naval systems

Jaggaiahpet – Donakonda: Missile production

Kurnool – Orvakal: Drone technology

Lepakshi – Madakasira: Aerospace electronics

Tirupati: Research & DRDO Centre of Excellence

Officials confirmed Bharat Forge and MMW will invest in Madakasira. Work on the foundation will begin soon.

Real Progress Already Visible

So far, 23 firms have invested Rs22,000 crore in Andhra Pradesh’s aerospace sector. These investments have created 17,000 jobs. The state aims to multiply these figures through Policy 4.0.

Focus on Skill and Talent

The state also plans to invest in talent development. Skill centres and academic partnerships will support industry needs. Institutions in Tirupati and Visakhapatnam will lead this mission. The government wants to build a steady pipeline of engineers, technicians, and R&D talent ready for global aerospace challenges.

Ministers Kondapalli Srinivas and TG Bharat joined the review. Commerce & Industries Secretary Yuvraj also attended.
