Why were bypolls held?

Visavadar and Kadi, two constituencies in Gujarat, held by-elections. In Visavadar, the by-election took place after AAP MLA Bhupendra Bhayani defected to the BJP, leaving the seat vacant. In Kadi, the seat became vacant following the death of BJP MLA Karshan Solanki, prompting a by-election. In Kerala’s Nilambur, independent lawmaker P. V. Anvar, backed by the CPI(M), resigned, triggering the by-election. In West Bengal, the death of TMC leader Nasiruddin Ahmed led Kaliganj to vote again. Meanwhile, Punjab’s Ludhiana West constituency held a by-election after AAP MLA Gurpreet Bassi Gogi passed away.
