BJP To TDP: Richest And Poorest MLAs In India

Politics is no longer just a means of service, but it has also become a means of earning immense wealth during the period. Crores of people in the country are struggling for two meals a day, but the assets of some MLAs have reached thousands of crores of rupees. According to a recent report released by the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR), the richest MLA in the country has assets worth thousands of crores, while the total assets of the poorest MLA are limited to a few thousand rupees. These figures highlight the growing economic inequality in politics and raise serious questions about the wealth of MLAs in India.


Financial status of MLAs of India:

Shocking figures have come to light in a report released regarding the assets of the MLAs of India. This list was released by the report of the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR).

Parag Shah: BJP MLA from Ghatkopar East, Mumbai, Parag Shah is the richest MLA in India, whose total assets are around Rs 3,400 crore.


DK Shivakumar: Congress’ DK Shivakumar, who is an MLA from Kanakapura in Karnataka, has assets of more than Rs 1,413 crore.

Nirmal Kumar Dhara: At the same time, the poorest MLA in the country is Nirmal Kumar Dhara, BJP MLA from Indus in West Bengal, whose total assets are just Rs 1,700.

Richest MLAs in India:

Many popular names are included in the list of the top rich MLAs of the country. According to the report, the assets of 4,092 MLAs of the country have been analyzed. This includes MLAs from 28 states and three union territories. 24 MLAs were not included in this report because their affidavits were not readable, while seven assembly seats were vacant.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has a whopping net worth of Rs 931 crore.

Andhra Pradesh’s former chief minister, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, has a huge net worth of Rs 757 crore.

Karnataka’s independent MLA KH Puttaswamy Gowda holds a significant networth around Rs 1,267 crore.

Karnataka, Maharashtra, and Andhra Pradesh lead the list of states with the highest assets. Karnataka is leading among the states whose MLAs have the highest assets in the country.

223 MLAs of Karnataka have total assets worth Rs 14,179 crore, while 286 MLAs of Maharashtra have assets worth Rs 12,424 crore. The total assets of 174 MLAs of Andhra Pradesh have been estimated at Rs 11,323 crore.

Poorest MLAs in India:

While everyone looks at a politician like the richest person, there are still MLAs in these states who work for the public and not only for wealth. These MLAs have the least assets, including

Tripura’s MLAs have a net worth of around Rs 90 crore.

Manipur’s MLAs have a net worth of around Rs 222 crore.

Puducherry’s MLAs have a net worth of Rs 297 crore.

In terms of average assets,

Andhra Pradesh MLAs have a net worth of around Rs 65.07 crore per MLA.

Karnataka MLAs have a net worth of approximately Rs 63.58 crore per MLA.

Maharashtra tops the list with a net worth of Rs 43.44 crore.

Tripura holds a net worth of Rs 1.51 crore per MLA.

West Bengal’s MLAs hold a net worth of Rs 2.80 crore each.

Kerala’s MLAs have a net worth of Rs 3.13 crore each.

BJP MLAs have the highest total assets.

If seen on the basis of political parties, BJP’s 1,653 MLAs have total assets worth Rs 26,270 crore, which is more than the total annual budget of Sikkim, Nagaland, and Meghalaya.

Congress’ 646 MLAs have assets worth Rs 17,357 crore.

Telugu Desam Party (TDP)’s 134 MLAs have assets worth Rs 9,108 crore. Shiv Sena’s 59 MLAs have total assets worth Rs 1,758 crore.

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP)’s 123 MLAs have assets worth Rs 7.33 crore on average.

Overall, the country’s 4,092 MLAs have assets worth Rs 73,348 crore, which is more than the annual budget of Nagaland, Tripura, and Meghalaya.
