CM Chandrababu Naidu: Amid criticism over the road accident death of Hyderabad preacher Pagadala Praveen (45), Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has ordered a thorough probe into the incident and directed DGP Harish Kumar Gupta to look into every detail of the incident. Naidu expressed grief over Praveen’s death.
The incident took place when he was on his way from Hyderabad to attend a Christian congregation at Chagallu, 30 km from Rajamahendravaram, on a two-wheeler. The accident occurred near the Godavari Fourth Bridge at Konthamuru village in East Godavari district on Monday night. The Rajanagaram police had initially treated it as an accident. The sudden death of the renowned preacher had raised suspicions, and many questioned the police version.
Nara Lokesh, HD and IT minister, took to his official Twitter account to express his shock over the sudden demise of Pastor Praveen. In the post, Nara Lokesh said, “The sudden death of Pastor Pagadala Praveen is shocking. I pray for his soul to rest in peace. I express my deepest condolences to the family members. The initial police investigation has identified it as a road accident. In the wake of various groups expressing doubts about the death of Pastor Garu, we will conduct a full investigation.”

D. Narasimha Kishore, East Godavari SP, revealed that a special investigation team led by Kovvur DSP Dev Kumar will start their investigation on the incident. He said, “We are probing the case from all angles. We have collected two video footages and Praveen’s phone, which revealed that his last call was made to friend Rammohan in Rajamahendravaram.”
Pastor Pagadala Praveen Kumar, a former techie turned evangelist, advocated against caste discrimination, promoted interfaith understanding, criticized Sanatana Dharma, and faced social media threats. He championed justice and equality, urging unity beyond religious and caste divisions.
