On the occasion of Ugadi, the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister posted a post on his official X site. In it, he wrote, “Wishing Ugadi to our Telugu and Kannada speaking Dravidian brothers and sisters who are welcoming the new year with new hopes.” He said that in the face of linguistic and political threats like the forced implementation of the Hindi language and the re-division of constituencies, there is a great need for all the people of the South to remain united. He also said that we should all defeat every attempt to undermine our rights and our identity.
Moreover, he suggested that this Ugadi should be an inspiration for our unity. He surprised the people by writing Ugadi greetings to everyone in Kannada as well as Telugu. However, instead of responding to this post and saying thank you, the Kannada people are expressing extreme anger.
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin was advised to remember that they are not Dravidians. On the other hand, Tamil hero Vijay Thalapathy and TVK party leader also responded to this issue. The Chief Minister said that it is not right to call Kannadigas Dravidians. He accused the DMK party of misleading people under the guise of the Dravidian model. And CM Stalin is yet to respond to this. It remains to be seen whether he will admit his mistake and apologize to Kannadigas or defend his comments.
