Congress Leader Naveen Yadav: Telangana’s Jubilee Hills by-elections are heating up. With the release of the election notification, the Model Code of Conduct has come into effect, and party leaders are now under strict scrutiny. In a major setback for the Congress, the Election Commission has registered a criminal case against Jubilee Hills Congress leader Naveen Yadav.
Complaint by Election Officer:
As the by-election draws near, all parties are busy finalizing their strategies. In the latest development, area election officer Rajinikanth Reddy filed a complaint against Naveen Yadav at the Madhura Nagar Police Station. Following this, the police registered a criminal case against him for allegedly distributing voter cards while the election code was in force.
Election officials treated this as an attempt to influence voters, prompting the EC to take strict action. A case has been registered under Sections 170, 171, and 174 of the IPC, as well as relevant sections of the Representation of the People Act. Sources say the officials are taking this violation seriously and are keeping a close watch on the constituency.
Political Reactions and Candidate Selection:
The case against Naveen Yadav has caused a stir in political circles, especially since he is believed to be in the race for a Congress ticket. Reports also suggest that MP Raghunandan Rao complained to the EC, alleging that Naveen was distributing voter cards in the area.
Meanwhile, the BRS has already announced its candidate for the Jubilee Hills bypoll. The Congress and the BJP are expected to reveal their candidates soon. Congress’s candidate selection is reportedly in its final stage. PCC President Mahesh Kumar Goud and CM Revanth Reddy are set to meet the party in-charge Meenakshi via Zoom on Tuesday afternoon.
