Hydra launched its biggest operation yet. A special drive to reclaim government lands worth Rs. 2,000 crores. Since morning, Hydra personnel have actively carried out demolitions across 17 acres in Hafizpet and Kondapur, with heavy police presence securing the area. They tore down massive unauthorized structures as part of the operation. While the action unfolded in Hyderabad, political tremors shook Andhra Pradesh. The reason? The demolished lands belong to TDP’s Mylavaram MLA, Vasantha Krishna Prasad. This marks the first time Hydra has taken down properties owned by a sitting MLA. The fact that Hydra targeted the lands of the ruling party MLA from AP has further escalated political tensions.
Complete Details:
MLA Vasantha Krishna Prasad owns 39 acres of land in Survey Number 79 at Hafizpet. Out of this, 5 acres have been used for railway lines, while authorities are in the process of handing over the remaining 34 acres to him. Some parts of the land already feature villa constructions. However, Hydra claims that 17 of those acres belong to the government and accuses the owners of carrying out illegal constructions on that portion. Demolition is currently underway on those disputed lands. KMK, a company owned by Koneru Muralikrishna, constructed massive sheds on those 17 acres and stored film shooting equipment inside. Early this morning, Hydra personnel moved in with bulldozers and brought down the entire structure. The office of MLA Vasantha Krishna Prasad also stands on the same property.
MLA Krishna Prasad Response:
MLA Vasantha Krishna Prasad strongly objected to Hydra’s demolition drive. He stated that he legally purchased the land in 2005. When the government at the time issued him notices under the Urban Ceiling Act, he paid the required regularization fees and completed the process in 2006. He emphasized that the land has remained registered under his name for the past 20 years and claimed that no legal cases currently exist against it.
MLA Vasantha Krishna Prasad revealed that he recently received notices from Hydra. He met Hydra Chief Ranganath and submitted all documents and details related to his land. He asserted that the property belonged to the “more” descendants and that the Supreme Court had previously ruled in favor of it being private land. However, Hydra maintains that the land is government property.
The MLA expressed outrage over the sudden morning demolition, during which Hydra officials also brought down his office. He claimed the office contained valuable documents and records, which were destroyed without giving him a chance to retrieve them. He called the demolition unjust, illegal, and inhumane, especially since it happened without prior notice.
Vasantha Krishna Prasad also criticized the timing of the action, pointing out that Hydra carried it out while Chief Minister Revanth Reddy was out of the country. He said he would have approached the CM directly if he had been present. Questioning the actions of the authorities, he declared that he would fight against what he called a grave injustice.

CP Ranganath Action:
Hydra Chief Ranganath declared that Survey No. 79/1 in Hafizpet is entirely illegal. He stated that all 39 acres of the land belong to the government, and Hydra has the responsibility to protect it. He emphasized that the land is listed under the government’s prohibited properties and that the case is currently under review by a Division Bench of the High Court.
Ranganath acknowledged that MLA Vasantha Krishna Prasad had met him regarding the issue. However, following Hydra’s internal investigation, officials concluded that the land in question is government-owned. Ranganath firmly stated that Hydra treats everyone equally and will take action against all illegal constructions, regardless of who owns them.
