India Responded on Turkey’s Support to Pakistan: MEA

Turkey: The Indian government on Thursday strongly urged Turkey to pressure Pakistan into ending cross-border terrorism originating from its territory. New Delhi also called on Ankara to take concrete and verifiable action against the terror network nurtured by Rawalpindi and Islamabad for decades. India urged Turkey to stop encouraging Pakistan’s use of terrorism as a tool of state policy.

Reiterating that mutual respect and sensitivity form the basis of India-Turkey relations, New Delhi made it clear that Ankara’s tilt toward Pakistan, especially after the Pahalgam terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir, has strained bilateral ties.

MEA Response:

In the press briefing, MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said, “We expect Turkey to strongly urge Pakistan to end its support to cross-border terrorism and take credible and verifiable actions against the terror ecosystem it has harbored for decades. Relations are built based on sensitivities to each other’s concerns.”

India’s Operation Sindoor response focused on Turkey’s complicity in Pakistan’s escalations against India, which began with the terror assault in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. In addition to giving Islamabad spiritual and theological assistance, Turkey also gave Pakistan weapons.

Turkey’s Support to Pakistan:

Turkey supplied Pakistan with 300–400 drones used in its military escalation against India, targeting both military and civilian sites. According to the government’s Op Sindoor briefing, Pakistan deployed these drones to breach Indian airspace at 36 locations along the western border, from Sir Creek in Gujarat to Leh in Ladakh.

Turkey backed Pakistan after India carried out precision missile strikes on terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, killing over 100 militants sheltering there. Yet Ankara failed to condemn the Pahalgam attack, even though terrorists from the Pakistan-linked Resistance Front, a Lashkar-e-Taiba offshoot banned by the UN, carried out the assault.
