Adampur: Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighted the paradigm shift in India’s terrorism doctrine that he proclaimed late last night and put Pakistan and terrorists backed by Pakistan on notice Tuesday morning.

Mr. Modi issued a warning to terrorists and fear organizations. If the Pahalgam massacre, in which 26 people, mostly civilians, were murdered by gunmen acting as a proxy for the Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist organization, were to occur again, India’s military would mount fierce retaliation.

Operation Sindoor:
India’s military response was Operation Sindoor, which involved precision strikes against nine terrorist bases in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. It also effectively neutralized retaliation missiles fired by Pakistan.

The prime minister also declared that Sindoor, India’s first tri-service military mission since the war with Pakistan in 1971, will continue to be an operational mission to counter terrorist activities for as long as necessary.

PM Modi Response:
“Our intent is clear… if there is another attack, India will respond. We saw this after the terror attack on an Army base in J&K’s Uri in 2016 and Balakot airstrikes (after the 2019 Pulwama attack.)”

“Operation Sindoor is the new normal,” the PM said, emphasising it will become a policy of Indian governments to take “decisive action against state-sponsored terror attacks on its citizens”.

PM Modi in Adampur:
Delivered from the tarmac of the Adampur Air Force base in Punjab, the prime minister made a strong statement. Last week, Adampur was instrumental in fending off Pakistan’s drones and missiles.

To intermittent cries of “Bharat mata ki jai,” Mr. Modi hailed the military for defending the country against Pakistani attacks as well as several terrorist acts in the past.
