Indiramma Amrutham Scheme Telangana:
The Telangana government has launched a new welfare scheme called “Indiramma Amrutham” from May 29, 2025. This initiative was introduced by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s government with a special focus on improving girls’ health.
The main goal of this scheme is to reduce anemia (iron deficiency) among teenage girls in the state. Anemia is a condition where the body lacks enough healthy red blood cells, often due to poor diet. It can make people feel weak, tired, and unhealthy, especially young girls who are still growing.
Under the Indiramma Amrutham scheme, the government will provide nutritious food every day to girls aged between 14 and 18 years. These food items will be distributed through Anganwadi centres and will include a packet of millet and a special nutritious mix daily. This plan is expected to help improve iron levels and general health among adolescent girls.
To begin with, the scheme will be run as a pilot project in three districts:
1. Bhadradri Kothagudem
2. Komaram Bheem Asifabad
3. Jayashankar Bhupalpally
The official launch took place in Kothagudem, where Minister Seethakka inaugurated the programme. The campaign runs with the slogan:
“Let’s empower our daughters, let’s build a healthy Telangana.”
This scheme is a step toward building a stronger and healthier young generation, especially among rural and tribal populations. If successful, the government may expand the scheme to all districts across the state.
The Indiramma Amrutham scheme shows how the Telangana government is prioritizing girls’ health and nutrition through practical, daily support. Such steps can bring long-term benefits by ensuring better education, confidence, and future opportunities for girls in the state.
