Vizag Mayor Row: YSRCP Chief Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy strongly criticized Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu for removing a BC woman from the post of Visakhapatnam Mayor. Jagan said the act proved how the ruling coalition is destroying democracy and encouraging unethical politics in the state.

Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation has 98 divisions. YSRCP secured victory in 58 seats, gaining a clear majority. TDP won only 30 seats. Jagan questioned how a party without majority gained control over the Mayor seat. He accused the ruling alliance of manipulating power through threats, money and misuse of police.

Political Pressure on YSRCP Corporators

Jagan revealed that TDP leaders tried to lure YSRCP corporators with crores of rupees. When corporators refused to accept, police and party workers attacked the hotel where they stayed. CCTV footage captured the incident. Jagan asked if this was the kind of democracy people voted for.

Targeting BC Representation

YSRCP gave the Mayor post to a woman from the Yadava community, promoting BC representation. Jagan said removing her from office insulted BC communities. He said the ruling alliance does not care about representation or social justice.

Jagan said the council’s term ends in a year. He said Chandrababu fears a fresh election because he has no public support. Instead of waiting for elections, the ruling party used shortcuts to snatch power. Jagan warned that people will remember this betrayal. Jagan urged citizens to recognize how democratic rights are under attack. He said leaders must win public trust, not force decisions. He appealed to people to stay alert and question undemocratic actions.

Jagan appreciated party corporators who stayed loyal despite pressure. He said they stood strong for people’s mandate. He thanked party workers for resisting the government’s efforts and defending democracy.
