Pawan Kalyan Assures Panchayat Reforms: Deputy Chief Minister and Panchayati Raj Minister Pawan Kalyan assured that the coalition government is ready to address panchayat issues. He met tribal sarpanches in Araku to discuss their concerns.
On Tuesday, leaders from the Andhra Pradesh Sarpanch Welfare Association and sarpanches from tribal villages in Alluri Sitarama Raju district met Pawan Kalyan. They highlighted several challenges faced by panchayats including electricity bills with added interest. They requested the revival of the free electricity scheme for minor panchayats.
Sarpanches explained that during the previous coalition government, notices were issued to clear electricity bills.But during the YSRCP rule, accounts were allegedly emptied in the name of electricity charges. They urged the government to recognize tribal hamlets as independent panchayats and allocate funds. They also demanded an increase in housing assistance for tribal areas to ₹5 lakh and improvements in infrastructure and employment opportunities.Volunteer System Controversy
Pawan Kalyan stated that the first cabinet meeting discussed volunteer salary hikes promised by the previous government. He revealed that the YSRCP government did not issue official orders regarding volunteers. There were no proper documents or salary structures for them. The finance department had no records of volunteer payments. He accused the YSRCP of misleading youth by calling it a government job while making unofficial payments.
He also criticized the YSRCP for naming them “volunteers” which means people who serve willingly. But the previous government falsely promoted it as an official job and deceived the youth.Eco-Tourism Development in Araku
During his visit to Araku, Pawan Kalyan inaugurated a wooden bridge in Sunkarametta Coffee Estates. Built at a cost of ₹19 lakh, the bridge enhances tourism in the region. He also planted saplings with Andhra Pradesh Forest Development Corporation Chairman R.V. Sujay Krishna Ranga Rao.
The minister walked on the canopy bridge, observed coffee plantations and appreciated the eco-tourism efforts of forest officials. He suggested expanding similar projects and launched promotional materials for the Araku Delight Coffee brand and eco-tourism initiatives.
