PM Modi Launches ₹47,573 Cr Projects in Kanpur

Kanpur: Prime Minister Narendra Modi officially launched and laid the foundation for 15 major development projects worth over ₹47,573 crore. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also attended the inauguration event. According to a state government release, the event featured key announcements aimed at transforming Kanpur with world-class infrastructure and services.

Kanpur Metro Update:

PM Modi will inaugurate the new underground section of the Kanpur metro train project, which connects Chunniganj and Kanpur Central. This section includes five new underground stations: Kanpur Central, Naveen Market, Nayaganj, Chunniganj, and Bada Chauraha.

This extension will directly link major city attractions such as Lal Imli, Z Square Mall, Green Park Stadium, Parade Ground, Book Market, and Somdutt Plaza. Currently, nine stations operate between IIT Kanpur and Motijheel. According to the statement, the new segment will enhance the convenience, speed, and safety of metro travel across the city.

Electricity and Railway Developments:

PM Modi is also set to inaugurate a 550-megawatt power unit in Ghatampur and a thermal power project in Panki. These energy initiatives aim to ensure a steady and reliable electricity supply for Uttar Pradesh and neighboring states. To support uninterrupted coal and fuel delivery, the government will construct two additional railway bridges between the Panki power plant and Kalyanpur. In addition, PM Modi will dedicate a 40 MLD (million liters per day) tertiary treatment plant in Bingawan to the nation. This facility represents the final stage of wastewater treatment, where sewage water will be purified for reuse in irrigation and industrial processes. The project is expected to promote water conservation and recycling on a large scale.

Fire Station Developments:

Furthermore, to enhance the city’s emergency response capabilities, the government will open a new fire station in Kanpur’s Bithoor area, complete with residential and operational infrastructure. Beyond Kanpur, PM Modi has also inaugurated several infrastructure and energy projects across Uttar Pradesh. These include two 132 kV power substations in Greater Noida, along with major thermal power plants in Jawaharpur, Obra-C, and Khurja, demonstrating a strong push toward modernizing the state’s power and public service infrastructure.
