Modi Sri Lanka Visit: Modi Flags Off Maho-Omanthai Rail Line

Modi Sri Lanka Visit: On the final stop of his state visit to Sri Lanka, Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived at Anuradhapura. At the Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi temple, he prayed and asked for blessings.

The “Maho-Omanthai” railway line, which was built in Anuradhapura with Indian aid, will be jointly inaugurated by Prime Minister Modi and President Anura Kumara Dissanayake of Sri Lanka. The project for a signaling system on the Maho Anuradhapura segment will also be initiated by the two leaders.

An important turning point in the expanding bilateral infrastructure cooperation between the two countries was reached on Sunday when Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Anura Kumara Dissanayake of Sri Lanka jointly inaugurated and flagged off important railway projects supported by India in Anuradhapura. The two leaders unveiled two significant projects at a formal ceremony at the Anuradhapura Railway Station. In this station, they have updated the signaling system for the Maho-Anuradhapura segment and the renovated railway track of the Maho-Omanthai line.

Take A Look At The Tweet:

In his recent post, he wrote, “Improve connections and strengthen friendships! In Anuradhapura, President Anura Kumara Dissanayake and I jointly inaugurated the upgraded railway line between Maho and Omanthai. Similarly, the Signalling Block Project, including the establishment of a modern signalling infrastructure and telecommunications system for the Maho to Anuradhapura section, was also launched. India is proud to support Sri Lanka in various aspects of its development journey.”

New Rail Line Enhances Northern Lanka Access:

Both initiatives, which were carried out with Indian support, are anticipated to greatly increase safety and communication throughout the northern rail system. The leaders were welcomed by sizable groups of excited people at the station, many of whom took pictures with their phones when the Prime Minister and the President of Sri Lanka arrived together. IRCON International Limited, a Public Sector Undertaking under the Ministry of Railways, Government of India, has carried out the railway projects.
