Republican’s Targets Zohran Mamdani Over Anti-ICE Views, Questions his Citizenship

Tom Homan Rejects Mamdani’s ICE Ban Plan

Former ICE Director Tom Homan slammed New York City mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani for pledging to expel federal immigration agents from city properties. “Good luck with that,” Homan told Fox News, insisting that federal law overrides city policies. He warned that ICE will increase its presence in New York, calling it “game on” after Mamdani’s primary win over Andrew Cuomo.

Zohran Mamdani Promises to Expel ICE

Mamdani, a 33-year-old Democratic Socialist from Queens, made immigration reform a key issue in his campaign. His platform vows to “kick the fascist ICE out” and protect immigrants by ending city cooperation with federal agents, expanding legal aid, and guarding personal data.

Republican Backlash Intensifies

Homan warned that New York, as a sanctuary city, would face even more aggressive ICE enforcement. He promised to “double and triple” ICE activity in the city. He compared New York to Florida, praising Republican-led cooperation and criticizing Mamdani’s plans as ineffective under federal law.

Andy Ogles Calls for Deportation

Tennessee Congressman Andy Ogles took the attacks further. On X (formerly Twitter), he labeled Mamdani “Little Muhammad” and demanded his deportation. He accused the candidate of being an “antisemitic, socialist, communist,” and filed a letter urging the Department of Justice to investigate Mamdani’s citizenship. Ogles cited a 2017 rap lyric referencing the “Holy Land Five,” a group convicted for ties to Hamas.

Mamdani’s Broader Vision for NYC

Mamdani’s immigration pledge is just one part of his progressive platform. He also plans to open city-run grocery stores, freeze rent hikes in stabilized housing, and make public buses free. He aims to fund these programs through a $10 billion tax on the wealthy and large corporations.

Progressive Support Grows in NYC

Mamdani has served as a state assemblyman since 2021. His recent win in the Democratic mayoral primary signals growing support for left-leaning policies in New York.
